What makes a great landing page?
Simple steps can make your landing page more effective meaning you will reach more people in your community!
Check out these steps:
- Before someone scrolls down on the page, they should be able to find the event name, offer stack (why they should come), date + time, and a link to register!
- To get more people to show up for your event (and have their contact info in advance), add a Call to Action button to this page! This could be something like “Plan Your Visit” or “Register Now.” Make sure your call to action button is large and use a color that doesn’t match your page to that it really stands out.
- Make sure there’s only one Call to Action on the page, so you’re only telling people to take one action. Multiple Calls to Action mean people probably won’t click on anything!
- Although it’s okay to use graphics on your landing page (provided they are compressed and named properly–see the visitor course) your landing page needs to be more than just a graphic. Google wants to confirm that the page is relevant to the ads, but they can only scan text (not images).
- We always say that photos on your website are like a window into your church, so people can see what to expect! Can you add some photos of smiling faces to your page? (before you upload the photos to your website, make sure you’ve optimized them using this tool from the Visitor Course)
- Google allows us to link ads only to pre-approved and secure domains owned by the account-holding nonprofit, so make sure you have your event on your church website and not just on Facebook, or in Planning Center, etc.
