How to Connect Meta & Google Assets to Church Fuel
1. Objective
To connect your Meta (Facebook/Instagram) and Google assets to the Church Fuel software using the Leadsie integration tool.
2. Prerequisites
- The email from Church Fuel with the subject line regarding connecting Meta and Google (contains your unique "Click Here" link).
- Login credentials for your Personal Facebook Profile (that has admin access to the church page).
- Login credentials for the Google Account associated with your Google for Nonprofits/Google Grant.
Important Note: Even if you have previously connected Google Analytics or Ads for the Google Grant, you must do this step. This connects your data specifically to the new Church Fuel software.
3. Phase 1: Connecting Meta (Facebook)
Step 1: Initiate Connection
- Open the email from Church Fuel and click the link.
- You will see a Leadsie dashboard. Locate the Facebook section.
- Click the down arrow or the button that says "Connect more Meta assets."
Step 2: Log In
- Click Change Account or Connect Facebook.
- Log in using your Personal Facebook Profile.
- Why? Facebook Pages are managed by personal profiles. You must log in as yourself to grant access to the Pages you manage.
Step 3: Select Assets (The "Happy Path")
- If you see your Church Page and Ad Account listed clearly (not in red):
- Select your Ads Account.
- Select your Facebook Page.
- Click Confirm Access.
Troubleshooting Meta Connections
Use these steps if your assets appear in Red, say "No Ads Account," or you cannot select the correct Page.
Scenario A: You don't have an Ads Account or Business Portfolio
- Go to business.facebook.com/select in a new tab.
- Create a Business Portfolio:
- Click Create Business Portfolio.
- Name: [Church Name] [City] [State] (e.g., First Church Lees Summit MO). Note: No dashes allowed in the portfolio name.
- Email: Enter a business email you have access to.
- Add Your Page:
- Go to Settings > Pages.
- Click Add > Add an Existing Facebook Page.
- Type your church name, select it, and click Add Page.
- Create an Ads Account:
- Go to Settings > Ad Accounts.
- Click Add > Create New Ad Account.
- Name: [Church Name] - [City] - [State] (e.g., First Church - Lees Summit - MO).
- Timezone: Select your correct timezone carefully.
- Select "My Business" and click Create.
- Refresh Leadsie:
- Go back to the Leadsie tab.
- Click Change Account and log in again to refresh the data.
- Select the new Ad Account and Page and confirm.
Scenario B: Granting Permissions (If prompted) If Leadsie asks to "Share Assets," or you need to manually assign them:
- Go to your Business Portfolio settings (business.facebook.com).
- Click Partners. You should see Church Fuel.
- Click Assign Assets.
- Select Pages > Select your Page > Toggle on Full Control.
- Select Ad Accounts > Select your Ad Account > Toggle on Full Control.
- Click Save Changes/Assign Assets.
4. Phase 2: Connecting Google
Step 1: Initiate Connection
- In the Leadsie dashboard, scroll down to the Google section.
- Click "Connect more Google accounts."
Step 2: Log In
- Log in using the Gmail address associated with your Google for Nonprofits/Google Grant.
- Note: This is often a different email than your personal one. It may require trying a few different church logins to find the right one.
Step 3: Select Assets
You need to select three items:
- Google Ads Account (Select the Grant account, usually titled "AdWords Express" or similar).
- Google Analytics Account.
- Google Business Profile (Your church's map listing).
Step 4: Confirm
- If all assets are black (selectable), click Confirm Access.
Troubleshooting Google Connections
Use these steps if the Google Business Profile is Red or unselectable.
The Issue: You likely have "Manager" access but not "Owner" access, or you are logged into the wrong Gmail.
How to find the Owner:
- Open a new browser tab (or Incognito window).
- Go to https://www.google.com/search?q=Google.com and search for your specific Church Name.
- Look at the knowledge panel on the right side.
- Click the link that says "Own this business?"
- If it shows a partial email (e.g., ry...@gmail.com): This is the current owner. You must contact this person to either:
- Forward the Church Fuel email to them so they can do the connection.
- Ask them to log in and upgrade you to an Owner.
- If it allows you to claim it: Follow the prompts to Request Access/Ownership.
- Select "Ownership."
- Enter your phone and email.
- Submit. The current owner has ~9 days to respond, or it may default to you.
- If it shows a partial email (e.g., ry...@gmail.com): This is the current owner. You must contact this person to either:
5. Final Steps
- Once Meta and Google sections both show green checkmarks or confirmed assets, you are done!
